Recognizing the need to streamline emergency response efforts, Sheriff Wesley Doolittle has implemented a new non-emergency dispatch number for law enforcement-related calls: 936-538-5900. This change aims to reduce the number of non-law enforcement inquiries received by dispatchers, ensuring they remain available to handle 911 emergencies and law enforcement dispatch requests.
To support this initiative, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has also established a new receptionist center dedicated to handling general inquiries. For all other non-emergency questions and general information, the public should continue calling 936-760-5800.
“We are committed to ensuring that our dispatchers are available to respond swiftly to emergency calls and law enforcement needs,” said Sheriff Wesley Doolittle. “By implementing this new phone number and receptionist center, we are taking a proactive step to keep our emergency response system efficient and focused on public safety.”
Residents who call dispatch for non-law enforcement reasons will now be redirected to 936-760-5800.
Many general information requests, such as records, civil processes, or community programs, can also be found online or by listening to the updated phone menu options.
This initiative underscores the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to improving public safety and ensuring that emergency services remain available to those in need.
