Description
Join The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department for our 3rd annual Pumpkin Smash on Saturday November 2nd, from 3pm – 6pm at the Sterling Ridge Park and Ride!
This FREE and FUN event provides a unique opportunity for residents to dispose of their Halloween pumpkins.
Each year 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins end up in U.S. landfills!
That’s a scary amount of food waste. Instead of putting your jack-o-lantern in the trash, bring it to the Pumpkin Smash.
What to bring:
• A pumpkin, or pumpkins No limit on the number. Can be carved or whole. Can be painted with acrylic paints.
• Must be free of non-biodegradable materials (candles, stickers, yarn, googly eyes, plastics, etc)
• Safety goggles and gloves (or borrow safety gear from us)
• Wear closed toe shoes
SMASH IT, DON’T TRASH IT!
Choose your own pumpkin smashing adventure! Catapult it and watch it fly, grab a baseball bat and smash it to pieces or watch it explode on impact from a 30’ drop. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to monitor safety and ensure fun is had by all participants. Ghoulish pumpkin remains will give new life as nutrient-rich compost instead of being buried in the landfill.
Discover how easy it is to start composting in your own backyard. Local experts will be on hand to answer questions and share upcoming free compost class schedule.
