Six brand-new trolley vehicles are coming to The Woodlands later this year, and your family can help decide what they’ll be called! 🎉
The Woodlands Township has officially launched a Trolley Naming Contest, inviting residents to submit creative, nature-inspired names — and yes, kids can absolutely join the fun!
🌿 What kind of names are they looking for?
Think trees, trails, waterways, wildlife, and the natural beauty that makes The Woodlands such a special place to call home.
According to Township Director of Transportation Ruthanne Haut, the goal is to reflect the community vision inspired by founder George P. Mitchell — all while having a little fun along the way!
🎨 How to Enter the Trolley Naming Contest
- ✅ Open to The Woodlands Township residents
- ✅ Free to enter
- ✅ Each resident may submit up to three name ideas
- ✅ Names must follow a nature-inspired theme
- 👧 A parent or guardian must submit entries on behalf of a child
- 📝 Only entries submitted through the official online form HERE will count
Turn this into a family activity! Let kids brainstorm ideas at dinner or in the car — you might be surprised what they come up with!
🗳️ What Happens Next?
Once submissions close, an internal Township committee will review all entries and select a group of finalist names.
Then the fun continues — because the community gets to vote!
📅 Public Voting Dates
🗓️ Opens: February 10, 2026
🗓️ Closes: February 20, 2026
While public input is a big part of the process, final naming decisions will remain with Township staff.
⭐ What Do Winners Receive?
Selected names — and their creators — will be recognized by the The Woodlands Township Board of Directors.
Even cooler? The winning names will be displayed right on the new trolley vehicles for the whole community to see!
